BOTW Qualifications Report
We kicked off in Oostende four weeks ago. 60 non sponsored & 30 sponsored skaters gave it a shot. Michel Verstraete beat all the non sponsored boys with some solid runs. James Ghekiere won his first contest as a sponsored skater, he surprised everybody with some super smooth skateboarding. After a run including a 5m long fs nosegrind, the cleanest bs smithgrind ever & a hardflip bank to bank he nailed a laserflip bank to bank first try in the jam session. Watch the Oostende video here

The second stop of the BOTW skateboardcircus was at the Beurshallen in the medieval Brugge. The restyled Rampaffairz streetcourse was ready on wednesday afternoon. There was a little delay due to the snowy conditions, by 3 o’clock in the afternoon more than 100 skaters were impatiently waiting to skate the fresh hipcombination. One of them was PJ Claeys, he found some sweet lines on the new setup right away. His skateboarding allready announced that he would be the man to beat on sunday. And so it was, even Grand Prix Winner Tim Zom from Rotterdam couldn’t follow the skateboardmachine from Aalter. Pj took home the € 250 cash for first place, Fries Taillieu got second and Tim Zom third. In the non sponsored category it was last years overall winner Trevor Cappon who was the man of the day. Check out the Brugge edit.

The third sunday the city of Menen was the place of mayhem. Peeps from Leuven, Hasselt, Gent, Brussels, and even Rouen (Fr) came to the lovely litte town with the most sketchy skateboardfloor ever. Sponsored category was most interesting with the presence of Nike SB’s European talent Youness Amrani, Adrien Bullard & Kevin Tshala. Youness killed the streetcourse switchstance and was super consistent with technical tricks. Fries was aigain second and PJ came in third. Once again Trevor Cappon skated too strong for the rest in the non sponsored division. Nice contestvideo from Menen.

Last sunday we held the last qualification round of the Best of The West Skateboard cup in Roeselare. It was a stormy and cold outside, but skateboarding was hot inside. Again hundreds of skateboarders came to watch and participate in the BOTWcup. the qualification runs of the sponsored riders were of a real high level. Stand outs were Koenraad Helsen, bs nollie 270 heelflip over the hip. Jonathan Thijs, crooked bs 180 out at speed mach 10 and Tim Jacobs taking his bowl skills to the streetcourse with a huge transfer quarter to bank. In the finals Jonathan skated a real solid run and nailed 20 tricks during the jam session. 1st place for from Leuven. His homie Tim Jacobs came in second. Dirty South Mo got a well deserved third place. In the nonsponsored category Glenn Vanderheylen finally showed what he got and ended 1st.
